In some cases, you may want to take your portable computer or desktop screen to save an online webpage or new app to show off to other people.
Like previous versions, Windows 11 packs a lot of screenshots. You can capture the whole screen or part of it, write or interpret it in a screenshot, copy it to the clipboard, or share it directly without any hassle.
In addition, we have third-party tools for easy screen capture and features. Here, let's take a look at some quick and easy ways to take your screenshot Windows 11 PC.
There are many ways to take screenshots in Windows 11. You can use the built-in Shooting Tool, the standard Print Screen mode.
The Web Capture feature on Microsoft Edge, and more. All methods are described below.
Method 1- Take Screenshots With Shooting Tool
Windows 10 has two different screen capture tools: Shooting Tool and Snip & Sketch. With Windows 11 open, both of these older apps have been replaced by a new Shooting Tool that offers the best of both worlds.
Here's how to use the new Snapshot Tool to take a screenshot of Windows 11:
1. Open the Start menu on your PC.
2. Here, search for "Snatch Tool."
3. Click on the Snipping Tool in the search results.
4. When the window is open, click New to enter screenshot mode.
5. Now, select the location you want to capture using your cursor.
6. As you release the cursor, it will take a screenshot of the selected location.
If you use the Snipping Tool, you will see various screenshots, shown below. You can choose either according to your requirement.
- Rectangle: Selected by default. Use it to take a rectangular screenshot.
- Freeform: Select and photograph an unfamiliar area with your mouse.
- Windows: Take screenshots of a specific window or menu on the screen.
- Fullscreen: Quickly take a picture of the entire screen.
When done, it will open a separate editing window where you can draw, save, or share a screenshot.
To save the screenshot, tap the Save button at the top right. Then, name it, select the location you want, select the file type, and then click Save.
Launch Quick Snap Tool using Win + Shift + S
It can be difficult to open the Snipping Tool every time you want to take a screenshot on your PC. Instead.
you can use the Win + Shift + S shortcut to turn on Shooting Tool. Doing so will take you directly to the screenshot overlay screen, where you can select the location to shoot.
Method 2- Take Full Screen Using Print Screen on Windows 11
Print Screen is one of the traditional ways to take screenshots on Windows devices. All you need to do is open the screen you want to capture.
Then, tap the PrtSc button on your keyboard. The print screen will quickly scan and copy the screenshot to your clipboard.
You can paste an image into an email, edit it in photo editing software before it is saved, or paste it directly and share it in instant messaging apps like Telegram.
Since this method does not automatically save the screenshot to your PC, you need to attach the screenshot to any photo editing application and save it to your device.
OR paste it into Microsoft Word, then right-click an image> Save as image to download it.
Set PrtSc Key to Unlock Capture Tool Instead
Didn't like the Print Screen method yet you want to make it easy to take screenshots with a single click on your Windows 11 computer?
Alternatively, you can set the PrtSc key to unlock Capture Tool instead of capturing the entire screen. Here's how to do it:
Open the start menu and select Settings. Alternatively, you can press Win + I.
Tap on Accessibility in the sidebar at the left.

Click on the keyboard and scroll down to "On-screen keyboard, access keys, and print screen."

Here, enable the toggle to Use the print screen button to turn on screen rotation.

After this, pressing the PrtSc key will take you to the Snapshot Tool Cover, where you can take and save the screenshot.
Method 3- Download, Save Screenshots Automatically With Win + PrtSc
This is the fastest way to capture the whole screen on your Windows 11 device. Instead of pressing the PrtSc key alone, press Win + PrtSc on your keyboard.
It will capture the entire screen and save the screenshot automatically. You can later access all the saved screenshots in Photos> Screenshots.
Method 4 - Take a screenshot using Web Capture on Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge is the default browser for Windows 11. Interestingly it comes with a useful feature called Web Capture to capture anything on the screen while browsing the web.
If you want to save a complete screenshot or part of it while browsing, follow the steps below.

2. Here, click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
3. Tap Web Capture and select whether you want to capture the whole screen or a particular area. You can also toggle it by pressing CTRL + Shift + S.
4. When you take a full screenshot, we will give you options for drawing/explaining and saving a screenshot.
5. Although, with a specific location scanner, you can tap Copy to save it to your clipboard or select Markup to draw a screenshot and save it to your drive.
This method will only work for taking screenshots within the Microsoft Edge window.

Xbox Game Bar is another Windows 11 built-in app capable of taking screenshots. Although it was originally intended to take screenshots and videos while playing, you can use it to capture anything, as shown below.
1. Open the start menu and search for "Xbox."
2. Click on the Xbox Game Bar for search results. Alternatively, you can press Win + G.

Where to View Saved Screenshots?
By default, photos will be automatically saved in Videos> Capture. You can access this folder directly in Settings> Games> Downloads> Open Folder.
Change Screen Saver
To change the location of the screenshots, use File Explorer to move the download folder wherever you want to your PC.
The Game Bar will continue to save screenshots in that folder, no matter where you place it.
